Technology company Virtualware (EPA: ALVIR) has signed the largest contract in its history, securing a deal worth over €5 million to deploy its immersive platform VIROO in the 66 Vocational Training Centers of Excellence supported by Spain's Ministry of Education, Vocational Training and Sports (MEFPD).
The six-year agreement places VIROO at the center of the national strategy to integrate immersive technologies into vocational training, with the aim of enhancing the technical education system through advanced digital environments that align with current and future industry demands.
VIROO is a proprietary platform developed by Virtualware that enables the creation, management, and deployment of immersive content in collaborative settings. Scalable and adaptable, the platform has already been adopted by training institutions and industrial companies both in Spain and internationally.
Following this deployment, over 90 training centers across Spain will be equipped with VIROO, further establishing the platform as a leading immersive technology solution in technical education.
Founded in 2004 and headquartered in Bilbao, Spain, Virtualware is recognized as one of Europe’s pioneers in 3D and immersive enterprise software development. Its technology solutions have been implemented across key sectors such as energy, automotive, healthcare, transportation, defense, and manufacturing.
In 2024, the company acquired Swedish firm Simumatik, expanding its capabilities in digital twin and simulation technologies. The acquisition is part of Virtualware’s 2024–2026 Strategic Plan, which focuses on North American expansion, organic growth, and targeted acquisitions.
The company maintains a global footprint with offices in Orlando (USA), Toronto (Canada), and Skövde (Sweden). Its client base includes leading corporations and institutions such as GE Vernova, Volvo, Gestamp, Bosch, Petronas, ADIF, Biogen, and Alstom, along with universities and public sector agencies.
This agreement with Spain’s education ministry underscores Virtualware’s role as a strategic enabler of digital transformation in technical education, highlighting the increasing importance of virtual reality in bridging the gap between training and industry needs.
