24 August, 2026Sisteplant and the Centre for Automation and Robotics (CAR-CSIC-UPM) have signed a scientific and technological collaboration agreement to accelerate the development and validation of autonomous mobile robotics solutions for industrial environments.
Over the next 12 months, both organisations will carry out autonomous navigation tests under complex operational conditions, combining Sisteplant’s expertise in engineering, automation and industrial safety with CAR’s research capabilities.
One of the main focuses will be the validation of R-Bot, the agnostic robotic platform developed by Sisteplant to integrate and manage fleets of ground-based and aerial robots. The tests will address aspects such as autonomous navigation, teleoperation, asset inspection, operation without GPS and recovery from connectivity losses.
The collaboration will enable progress to be made in the technological maturity of R-Bot and accelerate its application in sectors such as energy, the automotive industry, the pharmaceutical industry and complex infrastructure, helping to automate inspections, improve safety and reduce operating costs.
