SARIKI PARTICIPATES IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF AN AUTOMATED METROLOGY SYSTEM AND DIGITAL TWIN FOR GURUTZPE

20 May, 2026Gurutzpe, an INZU Group company specializing in turning solutions for large parts, has developed—in collaboration with Vicomtech and Sariki—an advanced automated metrology and digital twin system designed to improve precision and efficiency in machining processes.

The project addresses one of the main challenges in the machining of large metal components: ensuring precise alignment of the part in the initial stages of the process. Traditionally, these measurement, evaluation, and alignment operations were performed manually, relying on the operator’s experience, which could lead to geometric deviations and affect the final quality of the parts.

To automate this process, the solution incorporates a 3D scanning system based on laser triangulation technology, integrated directly into the lathe’s tool carriage. The sensors generate a three-dimensional reconstruction of the raw part, enabling the calculation of the optimal positioning to minimize material waste and ensure dimensional accuracy during machining.

Additionally, using the Geomlib library developed by Vicomtech, the project incorporates a digital twin of the machine, capable of simulating the lathe’s behavior and optimizing both startup and the production process. This virtual replica helps improve the quality of machined parts and facilitates greater control over the operation.

The collaboration between Gurutzpe, Vicomtech, and Sariki has enabled the integration of advanced digitization and data analysis technologies into a real industrial environment, laying the groundwork for new applications in the field of machine tools and advanced manufacturing.
