RENISHAW WILL FOCUS ON THE “PROCESS FOUNDATION” AT BIEMH 2026 TO REDUCE VARIABILITY IN MACHINING

25 February, 2026Renishaw will participate in the upcoming edition of BIEMH, to be held March 2-6 in Bilbao, where it will highlight the importance of the so-called “process foundation” as the first level of control for achieving stable, automated, and predictable manufacturing.

This concept, developed by Renishaw within its production process control framework, places the verification and calibration of the machine tool as the starting point for eliminating variability in machining. Before starting production, it is essential to check that the machine is working according to its specifications, reducing geometric errors, kinematic deviations, and positioning problems that can compromise the final quality of the part.

According to this approach, the basis of the process constitutes the first level of a control pyramid that is completed with process preparation, in-process control, and post-process control. The condition of the machine can significantly influence manufacturing errors, even when the CNC program and tool settings are correct.

At BIEMH 2026, Renishaw will showcase solutions designed to reinforce this level of preventive control, including the XK20 laser alignment system, along with other calibration and verification technologies such as ballbar systems and solutions for rotary axes on multi-axis machines. These tools enable regular checking routines to be integrated into the production environment without the need for major structural investment.
